Cadbury Kraft
Modelling & Simulation
Cadbury Kraft wanted to identify energy savings and reductions in consumption at its Chirk cocoa processing factory. Power Plan Services undertook an audit of the energy flows and processes on site, covering gas, electricity, steam, lighting, heating, cooling and process compressed air. A SANKEY flow diagram broke down energy usage across the site and identified energy saving opportunities. Steam generation provided opportunities for CHP, for which PPS developed a feasibility study. The energy-intensive, high bay, warehouse-type lighting was a candidate for LED lighting. Heat recovery from the on-site air compressors could generate domestic hot water. Several of these options were progressed by the facilities management contractor.
