Citibank’s data processing centre in Lewisham needed to enhance its HVAC plant reliance to meet the industry’s tiered certification system of “Uptime”. The data centre’s chillers were at the end of their life and required replacement. Power Plan Services’ analysis of the IT loads and data hall highlighted that Citibank’s CHP system and cooling plant were working inefficiently together. PPS designed the N+2 electrics and cooling for the data centre, matched the chilled water required to the air handling loads, optimised the systems in the building and hydraulically modelled the chilled water network. Working with multiple stakeholders, a plant optimisation plan was implemented with predicted results of 385,000 kWh p.a. in energy savings.
